We miss you so much and are excited to create this new initiative that we hope will help you recharge, get to know other kidlit creators, and gain inspiration for your own creative activities.

This social event is free for SCBWI members (any region) and includes:

  • ➜ Icebreaker activities
  • ➜ Show and Tell: BRING your favourite kidlit on this month’s theme of… FISH.
  • ➜ Creative writing
  • ➜ Have your story critiqued in a fun, safe space
  • ➜ No charge; SCBWI members only.

This Zoom event will take place in English. You’ll get all the details and a Zoom link 24 hours before the event.

While this event is free, you must register by Monday, May 9 at 11:59 Israel time (4:59 p.m. EDT) to participate. If you want to participate in critiques, please register by May 4.

Critique Roundtable FAQ

➜ Who can participate in critiques?

  • Anyone with a manuscript of up to 1,000 words (picture book or a section from a longer work)
  • Anyone interested in helping other members by reading and critiquing their work
  • If you want to participate in critiques, please sign up by Monday, May 2nd.

➜ Do I have to be a regular critique group participate to join in?

  • No! This is a casual event and you don’t need to be part of our regular critique groups to join us.

➜ How do critiques work?

  • Participants send their stories a week ahead of time to give others a chance to read them. (Send stories to israel@scbwi.org.)
  • No written critique is required.
  • Critique roundtable will be moderated by SCBWI Israel Co-Regional Advisor Tzivia MacLeod.
  • SCBWI Israel reserves the right to not hold critique roundtables due to insufficient registration.
