Come Meet and Pitch to a U.S. Publisher!
This live, in-person event is for SCBWI members only.
Joni Sussman from Kar-Ben Publishing is coming to Israel, and for the first time since 2019, she’s graciously agreed to meet with SCBWI Israel members!
We’ll be meeting with Joni on Sunday, November 13, 2022 at 6:30 p.m. at Beit Ariela Library in Tel Aviv. The meeting is FREE, and is for SCBWI members only. You must sign up ahead of time so we know you’re coming.

Joni will speak for about half an hour about Kar-Ben Publishing and what they’re looking for. Then, she will meet one-on-one with members who are interested in pitching stories to Kar-Ben or showing their illustration portfolios.
If you are interested in meeting with Joni one-on-one, we’re asking you to respect her limited time in two ways: 1) be familiar with what Kar-Ben publishes (read their submission guidelines here: https://www.karben.com/submissions and find out what they’ve published lately, on their website) and 2) come prepared.
What does “come prepared” mean?
AUTHORS — Put together a pitch for your story. Your pitch should be 1-3 sentences to help Joni get excited about what makes your story unique and wonderful. You should explain what kind of story it is, and for what age group.
ILLUSTRATORS – Put together an organized portfolio and/or picture-book dummy. If you missed our recent portfolio event with Mike Malbrough, you can find lots of great information online to help you create a winning portfolio.
Each meeting is five minutes long.
NOTE that if available meeting timeslots are all filled, you will be added to a waitlist. Unfortunately, Joni’s time is limited and we can’t guarantee that waitlist participants will get a chance to meet with her one on one.

מפגש זה הוא עבור חברי SCBWI בלבד.
ג׳וני סוסמן מהוצאת קר-בן האמריקאית מגיעה לישראל לפעם הראשונה מאז 2019. באדיבות רבה, היא הסכימה להיפגש עם חברי האגודה שלנו שוב, בזמן שהותה בארץ.
המפגש עם ג׳וני ייערך ב-13 נובמבר ב18:30 בערב בספריית בית אריאלה בתל אביב. המפגש ללא תשלום, ומיועד לחברי SCBWI בלבד.
ג׳וני תדבר במשך כחצי שעה על הוצאת קר-בן ומה סוג הספרים והאיורים שהם מחפשים.
לאחר מכן היא תיפגש לפגישות אישיות (אחד-על-אחד) עם חברי אגודה שמעוניינים להציע סיפור להוצאת קר-בן או להציג תיק עבודות איור.
אם אתם מעוניינים בפגישה אישית עם ג׳וני, נבקש שתכבדו את הזמן המוגבל שיש לה עבורנו בשתי דרכים:
1) דאגו להכיר מראש את הוצאת קר-בן וסוג הספרים שהם מוציאים לאור (קראו את הוראות ההגשה באתר שלהם: https://www.karben.com/submissions ובדקו באתר שלהם את הספרים שהם הוציאו לאור לאחרונה).
ו-2) בואו מוכנים.
מה הכוונה ״בואו מוכנים״?
סופרים – כתבו פיץ׳ לסיפור שלכם. אורך הפיץ׳ צריך להיות משפט אחד עד שלושה משפטים, שיגרמו לג׳וני להתלהב מהסיפור הייחודי והמעניין שלכם. הסבירו איזה סוג של סיפור זה, ולאיזה גיל הוא מיועד. הנה קישור לוידאו ביו-טיוב עם עצות ומידע כיצד להכין פיץ׳ לסיפור שלכם.
מאיירים – הכינו פורטפוליו מסודר של איורים שלכם ו/או דמי של פיקצ׳ר בוק. אם פספסתם את האירוע שלנו לאחרונה על יצירת פורטפוליו מושלם עם מאייר מייק מלברו, תוכלו למצוא מידע רב באינטרנט על נושא זה.
כל פגישה אישית אורכת חמש דקות. מספר הפגישות מוגבל, כל הקודם זוכה.
